Junior high students prepare for big weekend of testing 會考看考場(2014/05/16)

Over the next two days, junior high students will take a test that plays a major role in determining where they go to high school. This year it is a new test introduced in conjunction with the start of the 12-year education program. 

Today at 3 o’clock, teachers brought their students to where this weekend’s exam will take place. Besides inspecting registration documents, students found the classroom they will sit in and even located their seat.

More than 270,000 have registered for the first comprehensive assessment program for junior high school students, introduced in conjunction with the 12-year education program. It will test Chinese, English, math, social studies, natural sciences and composition. Apart from the composition, there are just three grades: excellent, fair and improvement needed. 

After getting their scores, students choose a list of schools to apply to. They must be careful not to shoot too high, or they won’t get in. Parents would like more data on general performance in each school district, so students can make an informed choice, but the Ministry of Education does not plan to make this information available.

Children have a lot of pressure. If they don’t get an ideal score, then they have to take the subject exams. The pressure extends over a longer period than in the past when we had just one joint examination.

首屆十二年國教會考，明後兩天登場，下午開放考生來看考場。至於會考結束，志願怎麼填，目前教育部暫不打算公佈基北區成績級距。

下午三點一到，不少班導師帶領學生，來看考場，仔細比對准考證，找到教室，考生只能隔著玻璃窗，在陰暗的光線中，確認座位。

首屆12年國教會考，一共有27萬多位考生報名，考國英數社會自然，和寫作測驗6科，除了寫作，成績只分「精熟」、「基礎」、「待加強」三等第。 

考完會考，志願怎麼填，也是個難題，因為教育部，暫時不打算公佈，各區分數級距，讓家長有些無所適從。

小朋友壓力都很大，考完以後如果考得不理想還有特招，比我們以前聯考一次就考完，那種時間上的壓力會拉得更久。

12年國教上路，國中生壓力，變大還是變小，考試結束就會知道。
