26:1 | [hb5] | 夏 天 落 雪 、 收 割 時 下 雨 、 都 不 相 宜 . 愚 昧 人 得 尊 榮 、 也 是 如 此 。 |
[kjv] | As snow in summer, and as rain in harvest, so honour is not seemly for a fool. | |
[bbe] | Like snow in summer and rain when the grain is being cut, so honour is not natural for the foolish. | |
26:2 | [hb5] | 麻 雀 往 來 、 燕 子 翻 飛 、 這 樣 、 無 故 的 咒 詛 、 也 必 不 臨 到 。 |
[kjv] | As the bird by wandering, as the swallow by flying, so the curse causeless shall not come. | |
[bbe] | As the sparrow in her wandering and the swallow in her flight, so the curse does not come without a cause. | |
26:3 | [hb5] | 鞭 子 是 為 打 馬 . 轡 頭 是 為 勒 驢 . 刑 杖 是 為 打 愚 昧 人 的 背 。 |
[kjv] | A whip for the horse, a bridle for the ass, and a rod for the fool's back. | |
[bbe] | A whip for the horse, a mouth-bit for the ass, and a rod for the back of the foolish. | |
26:4 | [hb5] | 不 要 照 愚 昧 人 的 愚 妄 話 回 答 他 、 恐 怕 你 與 他 一 樣 。 |
[kjv] | Answer not a fool according to his folly, lest thou also be like unto him. | |
[bbe] | Do not give to the foolish man a foolish answer, or you will be like him. | |
26:5 | [hb5] | 要 照 愚 昧 人 的 愚 妄 話 回 答 他 、 免 得 他 自 以 為 有 智 慧 。 |
[kjv] | Answer a fool according to his folly, lest he be wise in his own conceit. | |
[bbe] | Give a foolish man a foolish answer, or he will seem wise to himself. | |
26:6 | [hb5] | 藉 愚 昧 人 手 寄 信 的 、 是 砍 斷 自 己 的 腳 、 自 受 損 害 。 〔 自 受 原 文 作 喝 〕 |
[kjv] | He that sendeth a message by the hand of a fool cutteth off the feet, and drinketh damage. | |
[bbe] | He who sends news by the hand of a foolish man is cutting off his feet and drinking in damage. | |
26:7 | [hb5] | 瘸 子 的 腳 、 空 存 無 用 . 箴 言 在 愚 昧 人 的 口 中 也 是 如 此 。 |
[kjv] | The legs of the lame are not equal: so is a parable in the mouth of fools. | |
[bbe] | The legs of one who has no power of walking are hanging loose; so is a wise saying in the mouth of the foolish. | |
26:8 | [hb5] | 將 尊 榮 給 愚 昧 人 的 、 好 像 人 把 石 子 包 在 機 弦 裡 。 |
[kjv] | As he that bindeth a stone in a sling, so is he that giveth honour to a fool. | |
[bbe] | Giving honour to a foolish man is like attempting to keep a stone fixed in a cord. | |
26:9 | [hb5] | 箴 言 在 愚 昧 人 的 口 中 、 好 像 荊 棘 刺 入 醉 漢 的 手 。 |
[kjv] | As a thorn goeth up into the hand of a drunkard, so is a parable in the mouth of fools. | |
[bbe] | Like a thorn which goes up into the hand of a man overcome by drink, so is a wise saying in the mouth of a foolish man. | |
26:10 | [hb5] | 雇 愚 昧 人 的 、 與 雇 過 路 人 的 、 就 像 射 傷 眾 人 的 弓 箭 手 。 |
[kjv] | The great God that formed all things both rewardeth the fool, and rewardeth transgressors. | |
[bbe] | Like an archer wounding all who go by, is a foolish man overcome by drink. | |
26:11 | [hb5] | 愚 昧 人 行 愚 妄 事 、 行 了 又 行 、 就 如 狗 轉 過 來 喫 牠 所 吐 的 。 |
[kjv] | As a dog returneth to his vomit, so a fool returneth to his folly. | |
[bbe] | Like a dog going back to the food which he has not been able to keep down, is the foolish man doing his foolish acts over again. | |
26:12 | [hb5] | 你 見 自 以 為 有 智 慧 的 人 麼 . 愚 昧 人 比 他 更 有 指 望 。 |
[kjv] | Seest thou a man wise in his own conceit? there is more hope of a fool than of him. | |
[bbe] | Have you seen a man who seems to himself to be wise? There is more hope for the foolish than for him. | |
26:13 | [hb5] | 懶 惰 人 說 、 道 上 有 猛 獅 、 街 上 有 壯 獅 。 |
[kjv] | The slothful man saith, There is a lion in the way; a lion is in the streets. | |
[bbe] | The hater of work says, There is a lion in the way; a lion is in the streets. | |
26:14 | [hb5] | 門 在 樞 紐 轉 動 、 懶 惰 人 在 床 上 也 是 如 此 。 |
[kjv] | As the door turneth upon his hinges, so doth the slothful upon his bed. | |
[bbe] | A door is turned on its pillar, and the hater of work on his bed. | |
26:15 | [hb5] | 懶 惰 人 放 手 在 盤 子 裡 、 就 是 向 口 撤 回 、 也 以 為 勞 乏 。 |
[kjv] | The slothful hideth his hand in his bosom; it grieveth him to bring it again to his mouth. | |
[bbe] | The hater of work puts his hand deep into the basin: lifting it again to his mouth is a weariness to him. | |
26:16 | [hb5] | 懶 惰 人 看 自 己 、 比 七 個 善 於 應 對 的 人 更 有 智 慧 。 |
[kjv] | The sluggard is wiser in his own conceit than seven men that can render a reason. | |
[bbe] | The hater of work seems to himself wiser than seven men who are able to give an answer with good sense. | |
26:17 | [hb5] | 過 路 被 事 激 動 、 管 理 不 干 己 的 爭 競 、 好 像 人 揪 住 狗 耳 。 |
[kjv] | He that passeth by, and meddleth with strife belonging not to him, is like one that taketh a dog by the ears. | |
[bbe] | He who gets mixed up in a fight which is not his business, is like one who takes a dog by the ears while it is going by. | |
26:18 | [hb5] | 人 欺 凌 鄰 舍 、 卻 說 、 我 豈 不 是 戲 耍 嗎 。 他 就 像 瘋 狂 的 人 拋 擲 火 把 、 利 箭 、 與 殺 人 的 兵 器 〔 殺 人 的 兵 器 原 文 作 死 亡 〕 。 |

[bbe] | As one who is off his head sends about flaming sticks and arrows of death, | |

[kjv] | So is the man that deceiveth his neighbour, and saith, Am not I in sport? | |
[bbe] | So is the man who gets the better of his neighbour by deceit, and says, Am I not doing so in sport? | |
26:20 | [hb5] | 火 缺 了 柴 、 就 必 熄 滅 . 無 人 傳 舌 、 爭 競 便 止 息 。 |
[kjv] | Where no wood is, there the fire goeth out: so where there is no talebearer, the strife ceaseth. | |
[bbe] | Without wood, the fire goes out; and where there is no secret talk, argument is ended. | |
26:21 | [hb5] | 好 爭 競 的 人 煽 惑 爭 端 、 就 如 餘 火 加 炭 、 火 上 加 柴 一 樣 。 |
[kjv] | As coals are to burning coals, and wood to fire; so is a contentious man to kindle strife. | |
[bbe] | Like breath on coals and wood on fire, so a man given to argument gets a fight started. | |
26:22 | [hb5] | 傳 舌 人 的 言 語 、 如 同 美 食 、 深 入 人 的 心 腹 。 |
[kjv] | The words of a talebearer are as wounds, and they go down into the innermost parts of the belly. | |
[bbe] | The words of one who says evil of his neighbour secretly are like sweet food, they go down into the inner parts of the stomach. | |
26:23 | [hb5] | 火 熱 的 嘴 、 奸 惡 的 心 、 好 像 銀 渣 包 的 瓦 器 。 |
[kjv] | Burning lips and a wicked heart are like a potsherd covered with silver dross. | |
[bbe] | Smooth lips and an evil heart are like a vessel of earth plated with silver waste. | |
26:24 | [hb5] | 怨 恨 人 的 用 嘴 粉 飾 、 心 裡 卻 藏 著 詭 詐 . |
[kjv] | He that hateth dissembleth with his lips, and layeth up deceit within him; | |
[bbe] | With his lips the hater makes things seem what they are not, but deceit is stored up inside him; | |
26:25 | [hb5] | 他 用 甜 言 蜜 語 、 你 不 可 信 他 、 因 為 他 心 中 有 七 樣 可 憎 惡 的 . |
[kjv] | When he speaketh fair, believe him not: for there are seven abominations in his heart. | |
[bbe] | When he says fair words, have no belief in him; for in his heart are seven evils: | |
26:26 | [hb5] | 他 雖 用 詭 詐 遮 掩 自 己 的 怨 恨 、 他 的 邪 惡 必 在 會 中 顯 露 。 |
[kjv] | Whose hatred is covered by deceit, his wickedness shall be shewed before the whole congregation. | |
[bbe] | Though his hate is covered with deceit, his sin will be seen openly before the meeting of the people. | |
26:27 | [hb5] | 挖 陷 坑 的 、 自 己 必 掉 在 其 中 . 滾 石 頭 的 、 石 頭 必 反 滾 在 他 身 上 。 |
[kjv] | Whoso diggeth a pit shall fall therein: and he that rolleth a stone, it will return upon him. | |
[bbe] | He who makes a hole in the earth will himself go falling into it: and on him by whom a stone is rolled the stone will come back again. | |
26:28 | [hb5] | 虛 謊 的 舌 、 恨 他 所 壓 傷 的 人 . 諂 媚 的 口 、 敗 壞 人 的 事 。 |
[kjv] | A lying tongue hateth those that are afflicted by it; and a flattering mouth worketh ruin. | |
[bbe] | A false tongue has hate for those who have clean hearts, and a smooth mouth is a cause of falling. |
